Why should I entrust my flowers to you?
  • We know that you can choose other preservation artists. We differentiate ourselves by the importance placed upon providing a high-level of custom service. We understand how much work goes into your special day, and how you want to look upon it fondly. We’re entirely open to working with your ideas, your special memorabilia (such as ribbons, pictures or other attachments that made your arrangement sentimental), and most importantly your expectations.
  • If you would like us to save anything for you, such as pins or other memorabilia we’re unable to use, it will be safely set aside and returned to you upon the completion of your piece. Any useable ribbon you would like us to work with will be laundered and ironed to create a keepsake you’ll love for many, many years.

What makes pressing flowers better than freeze drying them?
  • Each person has their own preference for preserving their flowers. There are many differences between the obvious physical appearance, however. First, pressing flowers has been popular since the Victorian era and will forever be popular. Freeze drying has only become available in recent years, and it could easily be a fad you’re unhappy with in 10 years.
  • Second, freeze dried flowers can become very brittle and easily damaged. You will want your pieces in the open for everyone to see, and not be concerned with children or pets damaging. For the freeze dried flowers in bubble-frames, many of our clients prefer a traditional framed piece to the bubble-look.
  • Third, the cost of freeze drying is very high. Most arrangements start in the $350-$400 range where our pieces range from $12 on up. This allows you to do several pieces for your home, for your friends, or for your family. These make wonderful birthday, holiday, or thank you gifts.

Do all flowers press well?
  • Most flowers look beautiful pressed. Roses are the very best. Red ones press a deep burgundy, pink ones stay pink, and white ones are a beautiful antique color. Delphinium, Lilly of the Valley, Queen Anne’s Lace, Daisies, Freesias, Stephanotis, heather, Babies Breath, variegated ivy or greenery, all work well. Even hydrangeas are wonderful assuming we receive them fresh. They have a tendency to wilt prior to receiving them, so be sure to get them to us quickly!! We want this piece to be as beautiful as it possibly can be.
  • Click here for a list of common flowers and greenery that can be pressed. It is not a complete list, and we are always willing to try any flower or greenery. Sometimes flowers can unexpectedly press beautifully, or visa versa.

Do I have to choose what pieces I want beforehand?
  • You are welcome to decide on the pieces you would like before or after your event. We receive many arrangements the days after a wedding, for example, where the bride has left on her honeymoon. We’d be happy to give your special someone a private consultation after they’ve returned home or have the time. We do ask that the decision be made within 3-4 weeks after the event. Alternatively, choices can be made by viewing the website and either emailing or calling them in.

How long will my flowers last?
  • Our flowers are preserved using UV protected lamination film in a hot vacuum press. Like other items of great value, you must do your part to take care of your pieces. Nothing lasts forever, but if you do your part in the preservation process, such as getting the flowers to us quickly, and protecting the finished pieces from humidity, heat, and sunlight, then you should have an unbelievable number of years to enjoy.

How long does it take before my pieces are ready?
  • The bulk of the time is the creation of your piece. We take the utmost time and care in creating something special for you. The timing is generally 3-6 weeks, but can take longer depending on the type of flowers, amount of desired items, and their individual sizes. We know you’re anxious to receive your pieces, so we return them as soon as we can!
  • Once your pieces are ready, we will call you to pick them up. Alternatively, we can ship them to you via regular or expedited mail delivery at an additional cost.

I have some flowers in my head-table piece, a bridesmaid’s bouquet, the groom’s boutonnière, etc. Is there any extra charge for pressing those flowers?
  • It is much more important to us to have enough extra flowers so your piece(s) are perfect. There is NO extra charge for pressing extra flowers, even if we do not end up using them.

Why should I have you frame the pieces?
  • Your picture will be dry-mounted, which is a process that flattens and permanently mounts your photo, invitation, etc. to the backing board in a vacuum press.
  • Dry Mounting serves two purposes
    • One is to flatten the photo. Photos can easily become wrinkled from handling.
    • Second is to keep the artwork flattened, regardless of the environment. Un-mounted photos will expand and contract over time, depending on heat and humidity. These expansions and contractions can translate into undesirable undulations and bowing of the photo within the frame. A dry-mounted photo will remain flat, regardless of change in the surrounding environment.
  • Click here to view the savings applied to supply your own frame (your frame must be delivered to the studio, since your piece is professionaly framed before leaving the studio).

How soon do I need to get my flowers to you?
  • The sooner you get your arrangements to us, the better your piece(s) will look. You should aim to have your flowers to us within 24-48 hours after the event, although we have received them later than that. If we do, some of your pieces may be limited in terms of flower variety or size. However, with your permission, we could purchase replacement flowers of the same type and color (additional charges may apply).

My wedding was years ago, can you recreate my bouquet?
  • Great idea! We can recreate your arrangements by using pictures from your special occasion. Can you imagine what a wonderful surprise to give a framed piece as an anniversary gift? And if you have the original ribbon available, we could even incorporate that for you!

What memorabilia can you use?
  • We are open to using any memorabilia you have available. Typically we are asked to use ribbon from bouquets or "special" flowers ribboned for memorial purposes (such as grandparents or other family members that are unable to attend the special event). Your ribbon is laundered and ironed prior to using it.
  • Typically large or bulky items are discouraged, such a rhinestone "sparklies" or similar types of decorative pieces commonly found in arrangements. We will safely set aside these types of items to return to you upon the completion of your pieces.
  • Special poems, excerpts from your vows or any other script can be added to the tile for a nominal fee.

I have photos, invitations, posters, or other items I’d like professionally framed without my flowers. Can you do this?
  • Absolutely! We have a selection of mat colors and frames to suit you. Click here for sample mat colors and sample frames. Additional colors and frame styles are available if you have something special in mind.
  • You’re also welcome to provide your own frame or mats.
  • If you’d prefer to just have your items permanently dry mounted so you can frame them later, the cost is $20.
  • Dry Mounting serves two purposes:
    • One is to flatten the photo. Photos can easily become wrinkled from handling.
    • Second is to keep the artwork flattened, regardless of the environment. Un-mounted photos will expand and contract over time, depending on heat and humidity. These expansions and contractions can translate into undesirable undulations and bowing of the photo within the frame. A dry-mounted photo will remain flat, regardless of change in the surrounding environment.
  • Some items may not be dry-mountable (such as gold laminated pieces, crayon grave rubbings, facsimiles, etc. Items such as standard photographs, posters, etc. are fine.) We are not responsible for damage to items not meant to be dry-mounted in our vacuum press.
